Great news from SFPS! 📚 Student reading proficiency grew to 42%, continuing our upward trend, while math proficiency held steady at 22% for 2024–25.

This progress is a direct result of our incredible teachers, school leaders, and students working together toward excellence. 💪

We are so excited to welcome both familiar and new faces for what is sure to be a wonderful school year! 🏫💙 Attached is our back-to-school newsletter with some important upcoming dates and information to help you and your child feel ready for the first day.

📱 Important Communication Update:
This year, we are moving to a new, user-friendly messaging system through PowerSchool. You’ll now receive school updates directly to your phone via text message and sometimes a phone call, depending on the message type. Some teachers may still use ClassDojo to share classroom moments and photos, but PowerSchool Messaging will be our main communication tool moving forward.

📓 Bell Schedule & Supply Lists:
Our bell schedule remains the same! You can find supply lists in a previous post, and once I get more familiar with the new messaging app, I’ll resend those lists and share more back-to-school details there.

👶 Kindergarten & Pre-K Start Dates:
As always, Kindergarten and Pre-K students will start later than 1st–6th grade students. Your child’s teacher will reach out to schedule a one-on-one visit to help our littlest learners feel safe, confident, and excited to start school.

Reminder! All students must have required vaccines or an approved exemption to attend school. This is especially important for Pre-K, 7th, and 12th grade students. Free immunizations are available through SFPS, with walk-in clinics on July 25, July 30, and August 6.

As a precautionary measure following PNM's notice of a potential power shutdown on Thursday, March 6 (due to high winds), Santa Fe Public Schools will implement the District’s inclement weather procedures and shift to a remote learning and work day. This will allow us to ensure the health and safety of all. Additionally, we must comply with state-required instructional hours and avoid extending the school year beyond the scheduled final day of school. Please ensure that students are prepared for remote learning tomorrow, and stay safe. All SFPS schools are on a 2-hour delay for Tuesday, January 21st, due to extremely cold temperatures from the forecasted arctic blast in the morning. Bus schedules will also run 2 hours later than usual. Please make sure your student(s) are not dropped off before the delayed start, as staff will not be on campus. Full-day Pre-K programs are delayed by 2 hours, while morning Pre-K is canceled. Afternoon Pre-K programs will continue as scheduled. Stay safe and take necessary precautions.
