Be an upstander!
If you See Something, Say Something.
Students can report their concerns via the Say Something reporting system – whether it’s a possible threat or they are worried about a friend’s safety.
All reports are taken seriously and are immediately reported to the appropriate SFPS personnel.

Commit to never bringing a gun to school and to never using guns to solve problems.
Since 1996, over 10 million youth nationwide have signed the Student Pledge Against Gun Violence. The Pledge encourages young people to abstain from contributing to gun violence, including bringing a gun to school.
The Pledge is available in older and younger versions, as well as English and Spanish.
Anyone can take the pledge, even teachers, parents, and community members!

KEEPING OUR STUDENTS SAFE BY PREVENTING GUN VIOLENCE
For many young people, concerns about gun violence are part of the world they navigate every day.
SFPS Gun Violence Prevention Week raises awareness, promotes early intervention, and highlights practical steps that help keep students safe and supported.
This campaign is anti-gun violence, not anti-gun, and recognizes the importance of outdoor and hunting traditions for many New Mexico families.
We are empowering students to shape a culture of safety in their schools by:
Taking the Student Pledge Against Gun Violence
Use Say Something to report safety concerns.
Reach out if you need help with a conflict, stress, or other challenges. Talk to a trusted adult, or call 988 or another helpline.
Thank you for supporting Gun Violence Prevention Week.

We’re off to a great start and are excited for all that’s ahead! Communication is key to keeping our Knights community strong, so please stay connected with us.
We send home Wednesday Folders on the first Wednesday of each month with important information for your family. This week’s folder includes:
Code of Conduct form
Technology Agreement form
School newsletter
Parent Right to Know Letter
SFPS calendar magnets
Save the date: Picture Day will be on 9/3. I realized the next newsletter will be sent that same day so I added picture day to this digital copy but it may not be on your paper copy. Melinda will be sharing additional picture day flyers with details.
21st Century Afterschool Program will begin 9/2/25 and the link to register will be sent out tomorrow.
Please take a moment to review all the important information in the newsletter. Thank you for helping us start the year strong!

We are so excited to welcome both familiar and new faces for what is sure to be a wonderful school year! 🏫💙 Attached is our back-to-school newsletter with some important upcoming dates and information to help you and your child feel ready for the first day.
📱 Important Communication Update:
This year, we are moving to a new, user-friendly messaging system through PowerSchool. You’ll now receive school updates directly to your phone via text message and sometimes a phone call, depending on the message type. Some teachers may still use ClassDojo to share classroom moments and photos, but PowerSchool Messaging will be our main communication tool moving forward.
📓 Bell Schedule & Supply Lists:
Our bell schedule remains the same! You can find supply lists in a previous post, and once I get more familiar with the new messaging app, I’ll resend those lists and share more back-to-school details there.
👶 Kindergarten & Pre-K Start Dates:
As always, Kindergarten and Pre-K students will start later than 1st–6th grade students. Your child’s teacher will reach out to schedule a one-on-one visit to help our littlest learners feel safe, confident, and excited to start school.
📆 Key Dates:
🧑🏫 Teachers return next week for training.
📞 Expect to hear from your child’s teacher by Wednesday, August 6.
📚 Meet the Teacher Night & Supply Drop-Off: August 7
🎒 First Day of School: Thursday, August 8
⏰ Early Dismissal every Friday at 1:05 PM
We can't wait to see everyone soon! Let’s make this year one to remember 💫
