Salazar proudly supports multilingualism and language development; we have a dual language strand of instruction in Kinder to 6th grade. Our goal is to graduate biliterate students by teaching content in English and Spanish. In kindergarten and 1st grade, we offer a heritage language program that provides support for students who come from Spanish-speaking households. This model focuses on transferring early literacy skills from Spanish to English while maintaining Spanish comprehension and speaking skills.
Bilingual education promotes cultural sensitivity and awareness, which often leads to deeper, cross-cultural connections and friendships, a stronger sense of empathy and a broader global perspective. At Salazar we embrace our cultural backgrounds, encouraging a healthy sense of pride and belonging in a multicultural environment.
